Great Appliance Swap Out Sears stores throughout the state of New York are helping residents access the remaining rebate funds still available for ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances. This is part of the state’s “Great Appliance Swap Out” rebate program, which initially launched in February 2010, and is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funds run out. Starting Friday, Feb. 25 through Thursday, March 3, Sears stores in the Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and Yonkers area will offer additional savings on home appliances, including:
New York residents who replace an existing appliance with a new ENERGY STAR qualified appliance are eligible for rebates from $75 to $555. Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funds run out. Furthermore, in New York, additional savings will be available for customers who recycle their old appliances.
Sears stores throughout the state of New York (to locate the nearest Sears store, visit: www.Sears.com/StoreLocator). The Sears Blue Appliance Crew can provide customers with the recycling documentation required in order to receive the additional state stimulus rebates, and through the Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) program will help remove customers’ old appliances and dispose of them in a responsible manner. (Stop Littering Polluting and Save Harbors) will kick off the 2011 season with OpSPLASH 21, the largest clean-up of the year. In its 21st year, SPLASH volunteers will board boats and be ferried out to remote islands and marshes off the South Shore. Bags in hand, Last year, more than 150 people donated their morning for the clean-up. In just two hours, SPLASH volunteers picked up 25,000 pounds of trash. In addition to ordinary trash, volunteers picked up truck tires, a yoga mat, and a rowboat! This year Operation SPLASH. is looking to set a new record of 35,000 pounds of trash rescued from our waters. Volunteers, must dress in warm layers, with waterproof boots, waterproof gloves and a hat. For safety reasons, no sneakers or shoes are permitted. In addition, volunteers should bring a change of clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen and any other essentials. Children must be at least 12 years old and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Assemble at the South end of Woodcleft Avenue in Freeport, at 9am on March 12. Founded in Freeport, New York in 1990, Operation SPLASH is a 1,500 member, grassroots, all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the quality of the waterways along the South Shore of Long Island. Throughout its 20 year history, SPLASH volunteers have removed 1,000,000 pounds of trash from the local waterways. The organization is currently working on other important projects designed to protect and preserve the fragile South Shore estuaries.
